At the core of the work, I’m a storyteller.
I’m Andy Lagunes, a Bay Area photographer and creative partner. For a long time I tried to figure out what kind of photographer I was. Street, documentary, portrait, family, wedding. The more I photographed, the less those labels seemed to matter.
What stayed consistent was the way I approached people and moments. I look for emotion, connection, and the small details that help tell a larger story. The approach blends documentary observation with thoughtful composition and creative direction, so the images feel natural, intentional, and true to the people in them.
On a shoot I show up early, learn the room, and work quietly. I would rather wait for a real moment than manufacture one, and I would rather light what is already there than bring the studio with me. When a project needs direction, a campaign or a portrait session, I direct with a light hand: enough for the frame to be deliberate, never so much that the person disappears behind the pose.
I photograph brands and workplaces, weddings and engagements, ambulance crews, fighters, and live events. Two of those come from my own life, healthcare and the mats, and you can read about that inside those galleries. Everything is shot in and around the Bay Area, and I travel for the right story.
